Today, in 21st century when we fight
for equal rights of men and women, when we aspire to see women in every field,
when we fight against female infanticide, when we do charity for enhancing
girls’ education; why is that a girl doesn’t feel safe outside her
home??? Women play an important role in the development of a country,
economically , by working as employees and managers in areas of
marketing, insurance etc as well as socially by posing themselves as
harbingers of rational reforms in patriarchal India. Still why is it
that, when they come home late at night, the prospect of their safety lies
questionable. Who is responsible for their safety???Young girls who go to
schools, colleges or coaching are not assured of their safety due to
the obvious presence of anti social elements in our country, that are in search
of such opportunities. They are not even afraid of the police or constitution.
In 99% of the rape cases rapists get bail merely after a few days of crime. In
recent past rape cases have increased significantly. The culprits are often
stalkers, taxi-drivers, co-workers, guides or appallingly any of the family
members. India is a country where a rape is committed every 54 minutes and
molestation every 26 minutes. At times police also become reluctant in lodging
complaints. It is a matter of utter disgrace that even after 62 years of
independence girls are not at all safe.
Does anyone think
about the plight of the girls who are molested???Such an incident not only
causes physical sufferings but mental as well. They find themselves unable to
come out of the grave depression. No one except the girl undergoing the
unfathomable pain will ever understand her plight. Even if she tries to come
out of it, our society doesn’t let her do that. People see her as
culprit and hence she is forcibly made the scapegoat.
…. damnit why don’t you have the courage to punish the ones
accused rather than cursing the victim. The victim is the one who has to live
her entire life listening to taunts of her family members, and the” exceptionally
supporting” society. In most of the cases girls have witnessed oppression from
their own family members. Being ostracized from the society has become
common spectacle. As a result the poor victim tries to commit suicide.
Some of the rape
cases are brought in the lime light by media, but unfortunately, most of
such cases are not made public, especially those that occur in rural areas.
Can anyone sitting
there who is cursing the girl and her fate could suggest what she should do in
such cases?? Should she commit suicide?? Or she should fight back??What should
she do???Such people can only sit and blame girls, justifying themselves
by saying “ Girls should dress properly. These incidents are increasing because
of their exposing outfits and independent lifestyle.” They don’t admit the fact
that instead of blaming and restricting girls’ life, they should teach
their sons so as not to let such events happen. Our male dominated society,
comprising of narrow minded people, is also indirectly responsible
for such events. That innocent girl unaware of her fate tomorrow keeps planning
for her bright future and suddenly a heinous incident turns her life upside
down. It hits my nerve whenever I think about that girl. You never know who it
might happen with.It could be anyone, you, your sister, your friend or any of
your kith’s. So please just don’t wait for such a thing to happen with
you, raise your voice against such shameful acts before it’s too late. Help
that girl to start her life from position 1. Accept her; don’t hold any
derogatory view about that poor lady. Don’t make her life even more
catastrophic.
In many of the
provinces in India, female infanticide is being practiced even today.
Girls are not properly educated, and moreover they are considered a burden. In
such a situation when some of the women take their chance and prove to the
world that they are not burden for anyone and can live their life
independently, then cases of molestation become obstacle in their success. They
feel unsafe, their mind is filled with fear. They don’t know what to do
because our constitution doesn’t comprise of strict punishments for
rapists. The government is busy playing its dirty politics and
apparently doesn’t have time to think about such cases, which, according
to them are futile. Why are girls not provided proper
protection??Unless girls are protected how could India be expected to become
developed one day. Why is it, that this society makes girls feel that they are
a burden???Why????……..Nobody wants to be burden on anyone. It’s just that
people are not letting the girls live their life independently.Whenever they
take one step towards their goal you place thousands of obstacles hindering
their way.
There is an old adage
“Diamond cuts Diamond, Iron cuts Iron” so one who has harassed anyone sexually
should be given the same kind of punishment, Death sentence is not enough, they
should undergo the same pain and should be awarded with chemical castration.
Today when we talk about India’s development, do you think its possible without
women??? NO …Men and Women can complement each other but
they can’t substitute each other. We need women’s decision in all
affairs irrespective of the field.
It’s a very old
saying “God resides where women are respected”.
Please follow it and
respect women.
